31 Oct 5 Ghosts of Women’s Health (Halloween Special)
If the Halloween thing is fear, women have a bunch of ghosts that that appear throughout our lives causing chills. Huge concernings that worry us, and by not speaking about them they become monsters. This is our selection of big ghosts of female health. Knowledge is the best weapon to lose fear!
The period (and its absence)
Unfortunately, most of us have grown up with a demonized idea of the period, and not only because it is blood: the period hurts, it’s dirty, it’s a nuisance, and it’s the beginning of a journey to no one knows where. Many would prefer bats rather than pink butterflies on advertisements for pads and tampons. Building a new imagery based on menstruation as a vital sign is essential to break with this idea of the witch that visits girls every month!
Later, when everything is normalized, what we fear is precisely its absence. We experience cold sweats every time we go to the bathroom and we don’t see… bloood! Stress and hormonal imbalances use to be behind the delays, those are the monsters of modern life!
UTI’s & Candidiasis
UTI’s and candidiasis are like the twins of a horror movie. Whichever it appears, with the first symptoms we get spooky and pray for them to leave us ASAP. There are many ways to avoid them, for UTI’s you can read this post, and if you tend to get candidiasis you can take probiotics. Although these vaginal infections are as scary as vampires, we don’t recommend inserting a garlic into the vagina 😉
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is much more common than you think. In fact, many women live with that ghost without knowing it! Don’t panic, having it doesn’t mean that anything bad will happen to you, but it is important to know about it in order to be able to prevent cervical cancer, which is related to the injuries that HPV can cause. For this, remember to always make periodic cytology or self-testing like Iune, even more effective.
It is common to spend years scared by those delays in menstruation and then start to get scared for not being able to get pregnant… Infertility is a spooky ghost that we use to fear in adulthood. As with everything, the key is knowing to be able to make informed decisions. Freezing eggs and fertilization treatments are tools you have in your hand.
This is the great witch of after 40, who has the power to scare us with different weapons: insecurity and discomfort with our body, the risk of osteoporosis, breast cancer, hot flashes … Menopause is a time of many changes that affect physical and emotional health, but the more you know about them, the less fear they will give you. For example, you will soon find in B-wom the Sex in Menopause plan. Knowledge is power!
